THE OBSERVER LADIES’ GOLF TROPHY

 CONDITIONS OF ENTRY - 2023

1.   The Competition shall be named The Observer Ladies’ Golf Trophy

 

2.   The Competition will be an individual Competition played under the rules of the Royal & Ancient and the World Handicap System, except that sheltering (due to thunderstorm) will be allowed.

 

3.   The Competitions will be over 18 holes and will be open to females over the age of 16 years on the closing date and who are HOME members of the following Clubs: -

Accrington, Baxenden, Blackburn, Great Harwood, Green Haworth, Rishton, Rossendale, Whalley and Wilpshire and who have an active LGU handicaps, maximum of 40 on the closing date.

 

4.   The Competitions will be run over two days, the first day will take place on Sunday11th June and the second day will be on Sunday 17th September. Both competitions to be played at RISHTON GOLF CLUB.

 

The first day format is to be played as an18 hole Singles Stableford Competition with a WHS Handicap Index of 40. The winner on the day will win the Mabel Stones Trophy with the top 6 Stableford points score and equivalent will qualify, if they choose to, to compete for the Observer Golf Trophy on the 17th of September at RISHTON GOLF CLUB.

 

The second day there will be 2 Competition formats played. The qualifiers from day one will play an 18 holes Strokeplay Competition with a WHS Handicap Index of 40, with the winner on the day winning the Observer Trophy.  The Subsidiary Competition will be a 3 Lady Team Event, 2 scores to count with WHS Handicap Index of 40.

 

5.   While competitors will need to be available to play on both days to win the Observer Ladies Golf Trophy, the Mabel Stones Trophy and the Subsidiary Ladies Team Competition are both played in their own right so Competitors have the option to play on both Competition days, the first Stableford Competition Day or the second day Team event.

 

6.   There will be no GREEN FEES

 

7.   The ENTRY FEE will be £7 for each competition which must be paid by the closing dates.

 

8.   In case of dispute, the decision of the Committee is FINAL

 

9.   The closing date for the 18 holes Singles Stableford Competition is Sunday 28th May and the closing date for the 18 holes Strokeplay Competition and Subsidiary Competition is Sunday 3rd September.

 

10. No male caddies are allowed in any of the Competitions.

 

11. The Competition Committee shall not be responsible for any loss or damage by any Competitor during the Competition.

 

12. If a player moves her HANDICAP during the time of the Competition from a Qualifying Club to a Non-Qualifying Club, she can take no further part in the Competition.

 

13. DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES THAT MEASURE DISTANCE ONLY IS ALLOWED.

A DEVICE THAT IS DESIGNED TO GAUGE OR MEASURE OTHER CONDITIONS I.E. WIND SPEED, TEMPERATURE IS NOT ALLOWED.

 

14. Motorised Buggies may be used by Competitors who have registered with L.L.C.G. and has a current Medical Certificate of Disability and then only is the host Club permits the use of Buggies. The Buggy may only be used by the person named on the Certificate and may only carry the players, her caddie and equipment.

 

15. Disclosure: The Observer Ladies’ Golf Trophy committee will store your name, golf results and event attendance when the form is submitted by your club Lady Captain/Representative. Your data is stored securely and is only used for presenting results and event administration, we do not share any of your data with third parties. We do not track any personal data; we use some essential cookies to provide secure authentication and prevent fraudulent use of user accounts. We retain data from past events publically on our website, personal data can be opted out of being displayed on the public website as requested.
